THANK GOD????
Two teenage boys were nearly knocked down by a taxi while dashing across the pedestrian crossing when the red man was "on". As they reached to the other side of the road, they said, "Thank God we weren’t knocked down". How loosely the name of God has been used these days. The boys weren’t knocked down because the taxi driver was careful enough. God did not intervene at all. If the boys were Christians, they know not what they were saying. It is like saying "Thank God that we weren’t late for church service" when they woke up late because they were partying late the night before and somehow managed to get a taxi to arrive 5 minutes early. The taxi driver just made a decision to ply on that road. God has nothing got to do with it. There is such a thing as reaping and sowing, causes and effects. In fact, most of the time, whatever happens to us are the decision we make. We can thank God for giving us His Word and by obeying it, it will bring about good causes and good effects in our lives.

ALWAYS IN A WIN SITUATION
Since the Church in Singapore has done her part in voicing out the negative implications of having casino and the Government still stubbornly in going ahead in building one, the Church must be ready to set people free who are going to be imprisoned in the addiction of gambling with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Whatever way the Government takes, God is always in a win situation because He cannot be put in a spot!

110%
Dick Lee in an interview recently commented that the final 4 have to give 110% from now on if they want to be a winner in the Singapore Idol. So it is believed that the 4 will work very hard from now on. If there are Christians in the final 4, giving 110% is not a problem if they have been giving Jesus 110% in their living for Him all these while. If there are Christians in the final 4 and they started to work hard for the Idol title, then it is suspected that Jesus is not the Treasure of their hearts. The life of a Christian can be judged. It is either consistent or contradictory. Who says one cannot judge others when one judges oneself first? By the way, if there are Christians in the final 4 and they have been giving Jesus 110% in what He wanted them to do all these while, they would not have the time to participated in the Singapore Idol in the first place.

HELPING OTHERS THROUGH PRAYER
Q: When we can’t help others practically, is praying the least we can do?
A: It is a right thing to help those in need within our means - time, money and soliciting help from others. Helping others will cost us. We do not do it out of convenience. We must always be ready to help or in other words - be spontaneous. Ephesians 2:10; Galatians 6:10. Prayer and practical help goes hand in hand. The right approach to prayer is to ask God to give us the means which at present are beyond our own ability. When the means come, then we can practically help others. As long as the means do not come, we will continue to pray. It is a sign of our seriousness to help. Remember, it is God that is working through us.
When a Christian say "I will pray for you", it is generally done out of formality without any intention to render help. Once the prayer has been said at that moment, it will be forgotten in the next. Worse still, they will say "I will keep you in prayer", don't know whether they remember to pray or not. The next time the Christian sees you, the issue for prayer comes back to mind and out of formality again, will ask about the outcome of the issue.
